Phil and Nancy Long are a brother and sister team who have combined their passion for woodworking
with their love of fine wines and oenology to create Winetree Studios , a unique company that
specializes in the design and building of custom furniture, home accessories, and custom wine
cellars and wine storage systems.
About the Artisans... Philip is a luthier (guitar builder) and skilled marquetarian, with a background in carpentry and finish work. He has an eye for detail and precision which manifests itself in every piece produced. Philip has also studied oenology for a number of years and is a member of several wine tasting groups. When not building or designing for Winetree Studios, Philip is actively involved in building and providing housing for others as a committee member for Habitat for Humanity. Nancy is an artist and studio woodworker with a background in sculpture, metalwork, weaving and painting. Her formal studies in fine arts include post baccalaureate work at the University of California, Irvine. Nancy honed her woodworking skills while enrolled in a furniture making class at Orange Coast College. She then apprenticed as a furniture maker, focusing on traditional joinery techniques primarily through the use of Japanese hand tools. Nancy has furthered her woodworking expertise through the woodworking programs at Palomar College, Cerritos College and College of the Redwoods. |
